{"id":1185,"date":"2008-12-27T18:41:15","date_gmt":"2008-12-28T04:41:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/?p=1185"},"modified":"2008-12-27T18:43:25","modified_gmt":"2008-12-28T04:43:25","slug":"design-is-everywhere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/design-is-everywhere\/","title":{"rendered":"Design is everywhere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To further my case that design matters&#8230;I&#8217;m often impressed when I see inventors take every-day objects we take for granted and put a modern improvement on it.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year my wife and I invested in the small little ball vacuum cleaner from Dyson.\u00a0 You know the hype, &#8220;no messy filters&#8221;, &#8220;no loss of suction&#8221; blah blah.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1186\" title=\"unu_dysonpv\" src=\"http:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/unu_dysonpv.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/unu_dysonpv.jpg 542w, https:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/unu_dysonpv-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sure enough though, after about 5 months of using this thing, it seems to have held up to its bargain.\u00a0 From a designer&#8217;s point of view, what I&#8217;ve loved about this device is that each piece of it seems to have had a lot of attention put into it &#8212; the way each attachment or brush is easily removed, even the way it snaps together it sounds so solid that you feel assured that it&#8217;s quality. The way they designed the instruction manuals, it&#8217;s illustrated similar to those airline emergency instructions&#8230;.almost no text at all, but yet it&#8217;s obvious what to do.\u00a0 I&#8217;m very impressed so far.<\/p>\n<p>As for the vacuum&#8217;s suction?\u00a0 Well, my wife is still happy with it&#8230;that&#8217;s all I care about.\u00a0 Happy wife, happy life right?<\/p>\n<p>And then there are products like this Fire Extinguisher<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.popularmechanics.com\/technology\/upgrade\/4224723.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1187\" title=\"home-hero-b-1107\" src=\"http:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/home-hero-b-1107.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"470\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/home-hero-b-1107.jpg 470w, https:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/home-hero-b-1107-300x223.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Why not take a 100 year old item and give it a fresh design that you&#8217;d feel ok leaving out in your kitchen?\u00a0 Why not make it more functional and easier to operate?
