{"id":1261,"date":"2009-01-16T11:30:36","date_gmt":"2009-01-16T21:30:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/?p=1261"},"modified":"2009-01-16T11:31:18","modified_gmt":"2009-01-16T21:31:18","slug":"day-in-the-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/day-in-the-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Day in the life&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once in a while I get overwhelmed&#8230;maybe I get hit with headaches, the work commitments I have pile up, I got stacks of stuff on my desk.\u00a0 I get this feeling where I feel like giving up my business and have an &#8220;easier&#8221; life working for someone else in an actual job.<\/p>\n<p>And then I think, &#8220;<em>WTF, why would I want to do that?!\u00a0 UGH!<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yeah I don&#8217;t think I want to go back to a jobby job just yet unless the economy was in so dire straights my business just can&#8217;t keep us alive.\u00a0 And then, would there even be jobs for me?\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know about this year!<\/p>\n<p>In any case, I&#8217;m doing fine&#8230;I&#8217;m overwhelmed because I have a lot of work!\u00a0 How many people can say that during this dismal economy!\u00a0 I better not complain!<\/p>\n<p>I just have to take stock.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s see:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work &#8211; going strong. My only complaint is not being able to relax one bit. I&#8217;ve been &#8220;experimenting&#8221; by trying not to stress out over the little things. You know, like organizing my receipts on a regular basis.\u00a0 Every time I do this, something messes up.\u00a0 Like I might forget to transfer money into my checking account one day and my bank sends out a check for me. BAM, I get hit with some stupid fine.\u00a0 I really don&#8217;t know how some people can be so laid back about these things&#8230;.<\/li>\n<li>House &#8211; great. Condo feels like the home we&#8217;ve always wanted for now. It&#8217;s cozy, reasonably easy to manage.\u00a0 My wife and I have kinda settled into a rhythm where we both help each other keep it clean (she&#8217;s a bit of a clean freak &#8211; nurse habits?). I&#8217;ve discovered she has super magnification eyes &#8211; she had lasic done a few years back and now she can spot the TINIEST of specks on our floor from halfway across the room.\u00a0 I walk over, kneel down to see what she&#8217;s seeing and I STILL can&#8217;t see it.\u00a0 She says, &#8220;<em>It&#8217;s right THERE!<\/em>&#8220;.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;<em>WHERE?<\/em>&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;<em>Right there it&#8217;s a little dead fruit fly or something!<\/em>&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;<em>I still don&#8217;t see it<\/em>&#8220;. \u00a0\u00a0 Crazy.\u00a0\u00a0 I need lasic.<\/li>\n<li>Classes &#8211; great so far.\u00a0 Afternoon class this time so I don&#8217;t have to get up to teach in some crazy hour and the students seem more awake. I&#8217;m trying to get them more involved in working collaboratively with one another in their projects.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see how effective I am in doing that this time.\u00a0 Everyone&#8217;s so shy.\u00a0 People tell me it&#8217;s the &#8220;asian mentality&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Baby &#8211; coming!\u00a0 2 or 3 weeks.\u00a0 It could be ANYTIME now actually.\u00a0 I&#8217;m nervous, but this part is unavoidable and I&#8217;ve had enough fathers tell me what to expect.\u00a0 I&#8217;m prepared for a lot of sleepless nights coming very soon.\u00a0 Still&#8230; I&#8217;m looking forward to holding the little one instead of staring at some little blob in my wife&#8217;s belly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What else?\u00a0 I guess that&#8217;s about it.\u00a0 Not so daunting when I look at it all typed up like this.\u00a0 I guess it&#8217;s not all so bad huh?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Once in a while I get overwhelmed&#8230;maybe I get hit with headaches, the work commitments I have pile up, I got stacks of stuff on my desk.\u00a0 I get this feeling where I feel like giving up my business and have an &#8220;easier&#8221; life working for someone else in an actual job.
