It tells the story of a mysterious princess who lures a boy into her magical world to warm her heart of ice. It is made from sheets of paper and light, designed to give a live audience an intimate and immersive experience of film, theatre, dance, mime and animation. We created the show during a four month artist residency at the Kuenstlerdorf Schoeppingen in Germany\u2026Before we started we had no idea how to make pop-up books let alone how we could combine them with projections. With a lot of care, love and arguing the idea eventually came to life. -Davy &amp; Kristin McGuire<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This beautiful work was mentioned by <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.chasejarvis.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/care-time-vision-beat-budget-every-time\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chase Jarvis<\/a> as an example about how &#8220;care, time and vision beats budget every time&#8221;.\u00a0I have to agree, stuff like this is really inspirational; when people can take the most basic of things and create magic like this. *bow down*<\/p>\n<p>Easier said than done. Every time I pick up my camera I think to myself, &#8220;oh if I just had that $1000 doohickey I could do photographs just like that other guy&#8221; And then you find out the &#8220;other guy&#8221; just ended up using a plain foil reflector ducked taped to his own head to achieve the effect. $.10 and some sweat equity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ice Book (HD) from Davy and Kristin McGuire on Vimeo.
