{"id":775,"date":"2008-10-02T14:14:23","date_gmt":"2008-10-03T00:14:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/?p=775"},"modified":"2008-10-02T14:16:23","modified_gmt":"2008-10-03T00:16:23","slug":"sound-of-silence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/sound-of-silence\/","title":{"rendered":"Sound of Silence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I dropped my wife off today at the airport to begin her 19-day vacation to see her parents back in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m actually a little surprised I&#8217;m feeling a little more depressed about it then I thought I would be.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a little pathetic, I know.\u00a0 (Suspend your gag reflex a little bit).\u00a0 I&#8217;m trying to figure out why.\u00a0 Back when we were dating long-distance, we&#8217;d have periods of up to 3 or\u00a0 4 months apart.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s not like I can&#8217;t take care of myself&#8230;.I&#8217;ve lived alone for years in my own apartment.<\/p>\n<p>So why am I feeling so melancholy\u00a0 I think it&#8217;s a few things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Worry<\/strong>.\u00a0 I think not only am I worried about my wife.\u00a0 Now there&#8217;s a little extra &#8220;bun in the oven&#8221; to worry about too.\u00a0 My wife has a tendency to try to do everything herself and I know lifting heavy luggage on a prolonged trip can&#8217;t be good thing in her pregnancy situation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jealousy<\/strong>. OK, this ugly feeling is turning up.\u00a0 She gets to go on vacation while I stay here working.\u00a0 Not to mention she&#8217;s going somewhere where there&#8217;s some of the best tasting food in the world.\u00a0 And I&#8217;m not talking the weird stuff (e.g., snake, shark-fin soup, pig blood, etc.), even just simple won-ton mein tastes an extra notch above anything we can get here.\u00a0 Fish&#8230;.to die for!\u00a0 The meat just glides over your tongue, it&#8217;s SO fresh.\u00a0 Meanwhile I&#8217;m back at home nuking Costco Chicken bakes.\u00a0\u00a0 Yay.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anxiety<\/strong>.\u00a0 Is it separation anxiety?\u00a0 Who knows&#8230;I&#8217;ll just miss that cute lil&#8217; lady.\u00a0 Who else is going to sit there rolling her eyes at me while I play pretend drums on my Rockband game hm?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On that note, as much as it sucks to have these feelings today, my wife is just gonna be gone 2 weeks.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;ll fly by.<\/p>\n<p>My friend on the other hand, is still <a href=\"http:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/?p=559\">missing his wife<\/a> and it&#8217;s been over 5 weeks since he&#8217;s last seen her.\u00a0 A couple of good reports from friends have said they think they&#8217;ve seen her mysteriously wandering around looking disoriented (stress-induced amnesia maybe?).<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, this Sunday they&#8217;re gonna organize another get-together to go pass out fliers and see if anybody gets lucky spotting <strong>Kimberly Jacobs<\/strong>.\u00a0 One group is meeting at 5pm over at <strong>Ala Moana Ctr.<\/strong> Group will meet corner of Ala Moana and Atkinson and they&#8217;ll head into Waikiki via the Yacht Harbor Towers area.\u00a0 A 2nd group is heading into Downtown.\u00a0 Meeting over at <strong>St Andrews parking <\/strong>lot, corner of Alakea and Beretania.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t even imagine what it must feel like to have someone mysteriously vanish from my life.\u00a0 If anyone out there can spare the time to help, please drop by.\u00a0 Bring some <a href=\"http:\/\/raphaellowe.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/kimberlyjacobsmissing.pdf\">Kimberly Jacob Fliers<\/a> with you!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I dropped my wife off today at the airport to begin her 19-day vacation to see her parents back in Hong Kong.
