So a few months back I posted a funny Oatmeal strip about webdesign. Seems like he’s at it again with a pretty funny list of “8 websites you need to stop building”.
This is such funny geek humor I feel kinda embarrassed I can relate to all of this.
On a side note, I recently replaced a multifunction printer just because the print head didn’t print black anymore. So now what I’m left with is a HUGE hunk of glass and plastic that otherwise still looks in perfect condition and does all the other functions just fine.
I also have 2 old laptops sitting in my closet now and I don’t know what to do with them. Apparently from what I can find online, there’s no real eco-friendly way to dispose of these suckers beyond just trying to take them apart and try to re-use the parts for something else.
It’s really HARD to be eco-friendly!

longtime lurker here….you could always donate your unwanted laptops and printer to a school. Or probably one of the best solutions would be to recycle them at one of the e-waste events.

Thanks for the info Lauren I’ll go investigate these options. Looks like the Best Buy offer is that they’ll take the e-waste for a $10 charge and then reimburse you with a $10 gift certificate later. Not bad…reasonable I suppose.
The laptops I have are probably too funky for a school…one has a busted screen which would probably cost them too much to repair, and the other is my wife’s old laptop that has a chinese OS. That might pose some fun new challenges for the student that boots up that laptop.
