A couple of quick mentions of recent websites I’ve finished this week. I don’t think I’ve ever finished 2 websites on the same day before, but I guess the schedules just worked out this way.
Both websites fell under similar budget constraints, but they each had very unique challenges. Above, the East Asian Marketing Strategy site was the first site in a good many years where I had to deal with foreign language type. As it turns out, it wasn’t near as hard as I imagined it. In fact, it was almost disappointingly simple this time around to include a site to do Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
What I’m most personally proud of for this site is the overall look of it. All I had to go by was my client’s logo. I remember thinking to myself, “hmm…how am I going to work a design around this?” Turns out, I think I matched my client’s style pretty well.
In terms of design and layout, MissingMoney.cc is also a very basic layout and concept. On this site though I think I wanted to explore more of the potential in using transparent backgrounds more in my layouts. Back in the day we couldn’t really do that in website design without running into all kinds of compatibility and non-compliancy issues.
Once again, I found out it’s pretty easy. At least now going forward I think I’ll be trying out more funkier designs involving transparent modules. The other challenge with this site was trying to implement Paypal’s subscriber features as a membership system. It was not as easy as they published it to be…but it works. Once it’s set up it’s actually pretty easy to use.
I’ll put more details on these sites up in my portfolio….”when I have the time”
