A friend linked me to this Hello Kitty post with all these new twists based off of manga or comic book heroes.
Kinda cool I guess, but I’m not sure who they’re trying to target now? Is there a growing market for comic-reading girls now? Or are they hoping to catch a new audience of male vinyl collectors? The Hit Girl and Doraemon version is funny….along with a Captain America and Ultraman. (via ComicsAlliance)
Everyone’s doing vinyl figures these days you notice? I was at a Disney store the other day with Kingston and saw they had a whole bunch of vinyl figures from Nightmare Before Christmas and Toy Story. Again, I wasn’t sure who they were targetting? I like collecting vinyl figures, but having places like Disney and Hello Kitty get into the scene kinda makes the whole market less appealing to me. Maybe there are young Disney kids getting into vinyl figures now?
I still have my Dunny vinyl figures in my closet. My collection is a bit stagnant lately now that my brother can’t routinely go to Kid Robot and pick these up for me anymore. /sigh.
