Another, oh-so-true comic strip from The Oatmeal, “Why you don’t like changes to your design”
This is another trap even I fall into once in a while. I can count maybe 4 or 5 major projects I’ve had in my career so far where I really put everything I had into the work. I loved everything about the projects, I liked working with the client, I loved the result. Extended unpaid time didn’t even matter to me. But in the end, almost each one of them turned into some kind of nightmare at the end. I felt burned, my client felt burned….gets me asking why the hell I’m doing this shit.
The problem? I got too personal into the project. Just getting your feet wet with design? Learn this lesson as early as possible….remove emotion from your work.
