It’s been about 5 days since my wife took my little boy with her to Hong Kong to visit his maternal grandparents. I keep getting comments from my friends, “OH you must LOVE it! Some alone time for you!”

Yeah no doubt it’s been pretty sweet. I’m not close to hosting a wild party at my place…let’s face it, my party days are long over (I never was a party animal anyway). But I’ve definitely take the advantage of spending my evenings taking small cat naps, catching up with TV, and playing some loud music. I don’t know if my neighbors hate me just yet, but they’re certainly getting a dose of some interesting music they may not have heard all these years since Kingston was born. (I’m doing a public service!)

I’ll admit, I miss them two. My sister-in-laws have been sending me pictures and videos here and there which makes the distance a little easier. I know this is a very 19th century comment, but I still can’t help but be amazed at how technology has made the word smaller. They take a video one minute, email it to me and I can see it 2 minutes later. It’s still get that tinge of amazement kinda like the feeling I had when I got my first cell phone as a teen.

But it hasn’t been all vacation time. I’m basically holding down 3 jobs right now — teaching, campus web development, and finally Lowe Studio work. It’s been pretty draining physically. But I keep telling myself it’s a lucky thing to needed while many people out there are struggling to catch a break. So I do nothing put pound away at this stuff little by little.

I did FINALLY get that 70-200L lens for my camera that I’ve probably wanted over the past 4 years. It’s been a matter of saving up every gift I’ve gotten for birthdays and holidays over these past years and finally I got that monster. So there are SOME rewards for sticking around in town and busting my ass.
