The countdown is starting for my next trip to Hong Kong next month! Whoohoo! I’m REALLY itching to get off this island this time around. I love where I live but there has come a point where I’m tired and lack creative energy. I need eye candy…even in the form a crowded, grimy, non-stop, sometimes-smelly city like Hong Kong.
I love the feeling of anticipation right before a trip, it might even be a better feeling than ACTUALLY being on the trip itself. Maybe because I know I have the full trip ahead of me. Once you’re there, it sucks knowing each day that passes brings you closer to being back home to the grind. (You see? My mental state right now is pretty grim)
I shouldn’t describe Hong Kong that negatively for those of you who have never traveled there. It truly is a fantastic place to visit. I’m going to enjoy every tasty morsel I can cram into my mouth. I swear the cooks over there can make brussel sprouts taste good. And then the TOYS…even the smallest hole-in-the-wall street vendor has a selection of toys that blow away everything I’ve seen at Toys-R-Us. Design books! As far as the eye can see in some stores.
Just these few factors alone are more than enough to make up for the heat, the smell of durians, and the noise volume coming out of every restaurant.
