Interactive Business Cards

Another list of cool business cards for inspiration. Some of these on the list I’ve seen before on other compilations but a few new ones are listed. I particularly liked this dentist card and the one with the knot for the message therapist. Simple…but it gets the point across. (via LukeTechTips)

Didn’t go down

Posted by on Feb 20, 2011 in My Business Adventures | 0 comments

No I didn’t get hacked or anything…some of  you may have noticed some odd behavior landing here on my site these past few hours. It’s a long story. Suffice to say I’ve been shuffling my own site(s) along with those of some of my clients over to my new server. My own site here, is a convoluted web of stuff. I got domains pointing this way and that way. So basically what happened was I had shuffled some of my domains over last night and in the process I had to wait overnight till it propagated over the web before I could...

Video – Lost in Sound

Posted by on Feb 17, 2011 in Design Finds, Music | 0 comments

Stumbled across this really cool video “Lost in Sound” by Onsombil. Apparently all filmed in 2 days using a Canon 7D. I’m getting more and more tempted to getting a Canon body that can do video…this looks fun. The song isn’t half bad too. Reminds me of an old school acid-jazz group I used to like called “Critter’s Buggin” (check them out if you like this kind of stuff too). I want to start a band like this…funky, jazzy, trip-hoppy. Any takers?

Daniel Egneus

Another media I never really achieved competence at is watercolor. Everything I created was a blotchy mess. I recall my dad (who’s pretty good with this media himself) looking at my skills disappointingly. Not so for this illustrator Daniel Egneus who created all these dreamy images & figures in watercolor. Check it out! (via Candified)

More surgery

Posted by on Feb 17, 2011 in Personal | 0 comments

So my little offspring had to do some minor surgery yesterday as a followup procedure to the major incident he had a few months back. I guess when surgeons are busy trying to save your life, they have to make quick decisions about how do do certain things and worry about fixing it later. The procedure went well, but of course seeing your little 2 year old face the gas and knife again adds salt to the wound. It was a same-day procedure. He’ll be back to fighting condition in 3 or 4 days. As for knowing more about the incident itself,...

Paper Art

Paper Cuts from Michigan Daily on Vimeo. There’s a paper theme going on lately. My paper folding skills doesn’t extend past paper airplanes. Once in intermediate school a friend taught me how to fold a 3-part spaceship that kinda resembled those Star Wars Star Destroyers. It looked neat but couldn’t actually be tossed around. Wish I still remembered how to build those…  (via Gizmodo)

Care, Time and vision…

The Ice Book (HD) from Davy and Kristin McGuire on Vimeo. The Ice Book is a miniature theatre show, a pop-up book that comes to life as if by magic. It tells the story of a mysterious princess who lures a boy into her magical world to warm her heart of ice. It is made from sheets of paper and light, designed to give a live audience an intimate and immersive experience of film, theatre, dance, mime and animation. We created the show during a four month artist residency at the Kuenstlerdorf Schoeppingen in Germany…Before we started we had no...

Can Cars

Posted by on Feb 11, 2011 in Art, Design Finds, Personal | 0 comments

I’ve partially given up on recycling. For a good few years now I’ve been a good boy…I’ve collected cans and bottles, saved them up nicely each month and then when I’ve collected enough, I’d skip down to the local recycling van and turn them all in for a few dollar bills. And then it dawned on me…the water I’m using to clean each can and the gas I’m using to drive these cans down turn them in, is probably worse off for the environment than if I just threw them into the garbage anyway? I dunno…basically...

Kids these days

Posted by on Feb 10, 2011 in Personal | 0 comments

At just 2 years old my boy Kingston already recognizes which remote controls the TiVo and tells me to skip ahead through commercials. It’s a bit amazing to me and a bit sad. Gets me thinking of all the things he’ll grow up taking for granted. He’ll grow up assuming that all cell phones can be swiped around with his fingers and that they’ll all have his favorite games installed; even the smallest TVs are twice his length; all of his favorite TV shows can be called up on demand and stored indefinitely; and any goofy...

I thought this collection of “Worst Photoshop Mistakes” was worth a laugh or two. Good timing since I’ll be leading my classes towards working on Photoshop next week. (via LukeTechTips)
