Thinking games?

Crayon Physics Deluxe from Petri Purho on Vimeo. Here’s an interesting physics type game that is availabe for the iPhone.  It’s pretty neat.  Reminds me of a game I used to love on PC DOS a long time ago where you build these Rube Goldberg type machines to solve the puzzles, The Incredible Machine.

Picking Colors

Posted by on Dec 23, 2008 in Art, How To, My Business Adventures, Webdesign | 1 comment

My best friend asked me the other day, “How do you pick good colors?”.  Beyond the shock I got trying to grasp the idea that my buddy was trying to design something (he always says he can’t design), I got to thinking to myself, “hmm, how DO I pick good colors for my projects?” I didn’t have a good answer for him. I had color theory in school…but honestly, how much of that I really retained is another matter.  In practice, what I really do to find colors for my various projects is a sometimes a mix of...

LEGO goodness

You know, I’m going to REAAAALLY look forward to having a little boy.  Among the many fun times we’ll have watching him grow, I’ll have a bonifide excuse for purchasing toys.  Hotwheels, Legos, Action Figures…oh I’m he’s giddy with excitement. Talking about LEGO, here’s a personal project that supposedly took someone 4 years and $3000 to build.  Hardcore man. The scene comes complete with Trooper footprints in the snow, Chewie working on the Falcon, and Han Solo running through the snow corridors.  If...

Another CS4 review

Posted by on Dec 19, 2008 in My Business Adventures | 2 comments

Here’s a Gizmodo author’s review of CS4 to add on to my own take last week.  I found the commentary to be pretty interesting too, getting a sense of what some people think.  Some love it, some want it, some hated it.  Mah, pretty standard I guess.  It did get me thinking though…are these software companies pumping out new versions too fast now?  CS3 wasn’t that old… I found this little list of Photoshop releases (yeah, geeky I know…hey I’m curious alright?).  Hmm…2 years between some of the...

Did you know?

Stumbled across this video while jumping around through some of my favorite Blogs. It’s a bit scary in some areas…not too flattering about the US either. But a lot of these details here certainly make you go, “Hmmmm” You can get all philosophical about this kind of stuff… makes me wonder with all the amazing progress human progress has made over the past century, will we reach a point where we know TOO much?

I’m a poet

I thought I’d share a little poem I sang to myself today while looking for lunch, What the hell do I eat today, there’s nothing in our kitchen. I don’t wanna eat no damn burrito It’s the same damn thing I’ve always eaten. Clever no?     No? Damn I need to go on a grocery run soon or I’m going to go crazy on these microwave burritos.

Creative Ads

Posted by on Dec 17, 2008 in Design Finds, Marketing | 0 comments

I love creative ads.  I just remember in college both in my Marketing and Arts classes the instructors used to give us projects to make fake ads about something (e.g., anti-smoking, drunk driving, etc.) As students, we would try to come up with things that we thought were clever, but in hindsight, we were never quite clever enough to make the instructors jump with excitement. I remember once I tried doing a Porsche presentation with a group of fellow students and we were SO convinced we had the best commercial. I had this thing about how...

I don’t want that project…

Posted by on Dec 16, 2008 in Humor, My Business Adventures, Webdesign | 0 comments

I don’t know if you just have to be in the business of webdesign to understand this humor, but I found this funny list of people you don’t want as clients. The sad thing is that I’ve encountered a good 75% of these situations before.  I guess it comes with the territory… (via: Zeldman) Pleeeease…if you’re going to come to me for webdesign (or any kind of design for that matter), don’t be on this list?  MMMkay?
