It has to happen. There’s some invisible force in the Universe that dictates as soon as you stop pursuing something it happens. This Summer it got really busy for me with work opportunities. Now the new college semester started and I’ve picked up teaching again too. (new upper level class this year).
Now all of a sudden clients that I’ve had that have been “dormant” for months, years even, have had to reach me to do all kinds of tasks. Not small little changes either. We’re talking everything from needing help for transferring servers, recovering domains, even asking for help scanning a virus infected mailbox.
I pulled the plug on almost all my advertising (some of it had to go anyway, like the Yellow Pages, who uses that these days?), and still new clients andĀ opportunitiesĀ are coming in. I’m NOT complaining…but at some point I’ve had to resort to assessing whether I can take on any new clients for a while.
I guess it’s been a while since I felt like I didn’t have to claw my way up a wet hill. It’s bitter sweet because while it’s good to be needed, it also means having more stress and more work.
