Here we go again, a lot of iPhone hoopla going around this week with Verizon announcing it’ll carry the Iphones within the coming month. This news is only of interest to me because my wife had been considering switching us to Verizon because it’s the only carrier that seems to pick up reception at her hospital workplace. Which means I may have to switch carriers someday as well.
Unlike those suffering in the Mainland, I haven’t had any problems with my iPhone and carrier. In fact, all Apple-fanboyishness aside, the iPhone is one of the few objects I’ve bought in recent years that I can freely say that it has exceeded my expectations. It’s not the phone itself either…it’s the combination between the form-factor of the device, the performance, AND the availability of apps that perform just about anything I need that makes it an extremely useful thing in my life these days.
Just yesterday I tried out a new attendance app for this semester’s class rosters….worked fantastic!
I mean, beyond the iPhone, I can say maybe….err…the TiVo or WD-40 would another object affected my life in such a way? I got a lot of other things I buy that I “like” but we’re talking about something that you just love? When folks say there are other phones that are better than the iPhone now. I don’t doubt it. But I think it’s similar to going to your favorite restaurant where you know there’s this favorite dish that comes out delicious every time you eat it….isn’t it hard to try something else?
I hear the Verizon version of the iPhone will pick up the ability to hotspot other devices. Which is a great opportunity for my business meetings. But I’m certainly concerned that they don’t have simultaneous voice and data capabilities. It’s like a plus and a minus there, I’m divided.
