It really IS like a switch — one day they’re cute little babies that need nothing more than an occasional diaper change and some food in his mouth, the next day they’re off running around and testing boundaries.
We recently noticed Kingston going around throwing things all the time. The pediatrician called it “testing gravity”. While I knew it would come eventually, it’s the oddity of it all that surprises me a little. I understand when he has a little tantrum he’d want to throw something…but the weird cases are when he’d be sitting there happy one minute watching TV and then he’d just subconsciously pick up a pillow and toss it across the room. Then continue watching TV again. My wife and I would stare and him and just wonder what possessed him to do that.
We started giving him little 1-minute timeouts to try curb the problem. It’s only difficult trying to keep a straight face when you hear him try to escape his corner…the minute you look at him and point back towards the corner, he’d scoot back. *squeak squeak squeak* The sounds of his chubby legs squeaking back towards the timeout spot.
