So the Spring semester of teaching finished last week. It was an encouraging semester…I’m aware of at least a handful of students I’ve taught this semester have been accepted into the program to go on as future animators or interface designers.

Attendance this semester was a little better. I actually got most of them to show up for perfect attendance until they started to drop out like flies in the last project. I know, I really should impose stricter penalties for attendance but I couldn’t be bothered chasing down who I consider “grown adults” for a situation that affects their lives more than it does for me?

One thing that was a bit of a surprise to me this time around was the fact I had a bunch of students at the end of the semester come up and thank me. Some even went as far as saying that I was one of their “favorite art teachers”?!  Yeah, I’m not teaching as a popularity contest, but I won’t lie and say that hearing that wasn’t a bit of a pick-me-up after 16 weeks of struggle with these guys.

I even bumped into a couple of students from my first semester of teaching (they’re now about to graduate this semester). They’re going to soon go off and do amazing things with their talent now and I’m hoping they’ll keep in touch.

On the flip side, I’ve had a couple of students who are on my F list:

This is sadly very true…
