iPhone Photoshoot
Another cool behind-the-scenes video showing how you can achieve studio-quality photos using just a simple iPhone 3GS camera. Again proving the point it’s not the camera you use, but it’s the photographer behind it. What I personally love most about this studio reveal is seeing how they set up the lighting…. I want those softboxes and lights now! Damnit! (via Gizmodo)

3 years ago today I was married to this gorgeous lady. I’m a lucky guy, I love this lady….even despite the fact I’m now the official bug-killer and family chauffeur for the rest of my life, it’s been a good ride so far. Grandma helped watch the little guy this past weekend so we had our “date-night” a few nights ago. Unfortunately we didn’t get to catch the movie we wanted to see (BOO!) but we did manage to turn it into a good leisurely stroll around Waikiki for the evening and then it was off to...

I’m trying to avoid being Apple-centric…but with the release of the iPhone4 just last week, it’s hard to avoid at least some kind of conversation about it. I actually saw my first iPhone4 in hand yesterday….a associate of mine actually braved that long line to get one. I must say that Retina display is pretty pretty pretty nice. OK, enough stroking Steve Job’s ego. Here’s a recent little thing a friend of mine asked me to do the other day — she asked me how to create a custom icon for her website on...

Here’s an amazing fingerpainting demo done completely with an Apple iPad by artist David Kassan. That just blows my mind because doing live portrait isn’t my strong suit, much less doing it all electronically like this. (via Gizmodo)

It really IS like a switch — one day they’re cute little babies that need nothing more than an occasional diaper change and some food in his mouth, the next day they’re off running around and testing boundaries. We recently noticed Kingston going around throwing things all the time. The pediatrician called it “testing gravity”. While I knew it would come eventually, it’s the oddity of it all that surprises me a little. I understand when he has a little tantrum he’d want to throw something…but...

Here’s a fun project I completed for a couple friends of mine who wanted to use poker chips to act as their unique business cards. Turned out rather good actually, the chips themselves have a good heft to them and feel very genuine. Here’s the look I was originally intending, but alas (I like using that word “alas” I don’t know why), the manufacturer couldn’t do something this fancy so we went with just the center portion for the finished design.

That’s the crazy iPhone 4 line wrapping around the Ala Moana Center this morning at 6am. Am I in that crazy line? No fucking way. That’s insane if you ask me….I got a handful of friend’s out there standing in line and I’m getting the play-by-play action via Facebook. To each his/her own I’d say…. for me, there’s no way I want to wait for hours out in a line just so I can part with $200+. Granted my iPhone 3GS is the easily best phone I’ve ever owned, but I’m not that much of a...

Another funny post on 27b/6 detailing a conversation between a lady asking a graphic designer for help creating a missing cat poster. This David Thorne guy cracks me up…I needed the laugh today.

So we started taking Kingston over to a new daycare last week. It’s a long story but there are many advantages to this new daycare….more kids for him to play with, lower cost, and it’s just 2 blocks away. It’s still taking a while for my boy to acclimate though. Each morning he clings on to me for dear life and cries as I drop him off… now I understand how it feels. It’s incredibly hard walking away from your child and tears and snot runs down his face. He “made” this Father’s day gift for...
read moreCSS3 techniques
With so much possible these days in the area of online design, about the only thing holding a developer back is time, budget, and the ever-present browser compatibility. It’s still neat to look at demos of what’s possible though. Like this great collection of tutorials and examples of what you can do with CSS3. There are a lot of examples where folks have replicated Flash effects, down to techniques about how to replicate Photoshop graphics with it as well. Some of the demos are more fun than practical…like the coke can demo...
