Ascending Audi

Check out this awesome Audi installation for the 2009 Festival of Speed. It almost looks like it defies gravity. Apparently done by a guy named Gerry Judah. (cool name) On that note, Audi’s come a long way in their automobile designs in recent years haven’t they? My dad used to own an Audi some 30 years ago and it was a clunky mess. I remember the weak air con where I’d be gasping for breath in the backseat and the unusual smell of the upholstery….it just smelled foreign. I’m kinda liking the ways Audi cars looks...

File this under…”I want”

Here, while I’m checking out to see if all my WordPress settings and features are ok, here’s a quick design find to wet your appetite. Another installation similar to the one that was up in Montreal only this one is done using a digital projection. This is cool too. Only problem being that this method probably limits the installation to the width of the projection and there will probably be light issues as well. (via Strukt)

Am I back?

Hmmm? I’m up? If you’re seeing this post, I guess I successfully upgraded my WordPress and everything is working fine so far. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical and shocked that it worked right off the bat. Big kudos to WordPress developers.

Time to upgrade

Posted by on Sep 22, 2009 in My Business Adventures | 0 comments

I’ll be upgrading my WordPress blog to the latest version sometime this week folks. I’ve let it lag behind a few versions. I’ve seen the latest version installed for some of my clients, and frankly…I’m jealous. Time to get my ass in gear and do it. So….if you see my site go down sometime this week. Let’s knock on wood *knock knock my head*. Wish me luck that I just didn’t just screw up my whole site, and I’ll see you when I resurface with a newer WordPress backend.

Filter Hero Shirt

This cool, albeit really incredibly geeky, shirt was mentioned on Gizmodo the other week. You’d have to be somewhat of a combination Photoshop geek + Comic book nerd to see the humor in it. Sheez, that’s a deadly combination isn’t it?  You can get this shirt yourself at the Chop Shop. I’m tempted to get it. But I’m not sure the muddy purple shirt goes well with my pale yellowish complexion?

BackOffice Business Cards

My clients were happy with their cards today. Which is always a good thing…happy clients with good business cards are like tiny little advertisements for me! Yippee. I had fun with this one. We printed them with this nice high-quality silk cardstock and I’m not sure you can tell from this shabby photo, but there’s a gloss ink treatment on part of the logo as well. My first chance trying out this printer and I must say the experience was pretty good the whole way through.

Stormtrooper camera

Posted by on Sep 17, 2009 in Cool Design Tech, Photography | 0 comments

How’s this blood-red camera from Pentax huh? I can’t quite say I like it or not…one second I think it’s hideous, the next minute I’m like, “hmm…that’s kind of sexy” I tell you what though, if you shoot with a blood red camera you better be sure you’re taking good shots. This camera is supposed to compete with the entry-level DSLRs. My personal opinion is that any of you considering your first DSLR should avoid any camera that doesn’t say Nikon or Canon on it. I learned my...

Camellie

Check out this Romanian illustrator, Camelia Dobrin, over on her website. Really cool stuff and a pretty nice & simple website to boot. It’s a coincidence I’ve been seeing this type of retro Sgt. Peppery illustrative style a lot lately. I’ve been banging away at Beatles:Rockband lately and the style of the artwork in there is pretty top notch. They say Yoko had a hand in influencing the design? On a totally separate note, I’m going to the first of 5 evening photography classes starting this evening. I’m...

Down with the King

This weekend my wife will have to do some annual training thing at the hospital so there will be some father-son bonding time alone. I think I should be able to manage (Please Kingston no poop no poop). He’s actually doing quite well…in just a few short months he’s already 3 times bigger and heavier than he was when we first brought him home. Amazing! He’s sitting up on his own but we’ve yet to see him do any crawling. Most of the time he wants us to grab him under the arms and walk him around the house. He may...
