Remodeling progress

I really miss my home and my things. I really do. I’m trying hard not to complain because we essentially invited ourselves into my parent’s condo. My old room had since been long converted in my dad’s man-cave for a while now and there’s barely enough room for me to stretch out flat to sleep. As it is, I have to sleep at an angle on the floor if I want to lie flat. NOT complaining! Lest they immediately kick us out on the street. Our house is coming along. New windows are already in and our contractor has installed a...

Remodeling has begun.

Remodeling has begun.

So remodeling has begun. We spent an entire weekend packing up our house and covering up all our good in anticipation for all the work. And this morning I invited a whole crew of strangers into my home and watched as they begin taking sledgehammers, screwdrivers and crowbars to my once happy home. I recognize that I shouldn’t bitch…being in a situation where we’re able to afford remodeling our home into something that works for our family is a nice luxury not everyone can afford these days. So I’m...

Costume anxiety

We had some problems getting Kingston into the Halloween mood this year for the first time. We did what we could — we took him to the costume store weeks ago, let him pick his own costume and I even got him into the mood by watching some selective   hero fighting scenes in the Avengers. He just loves imagining being the Hulk, Capt. America, Iron Man and Thor these days…we’d go rushing around the room fighting imaginary “bad guys” So we take this fantastic Capt America costume home and he simply refused to put it...

Programming distaste

I set in an all day PHP, JQuery meeting yesterday amongst campus developers. I thought to myself, “how is it I ended up being a web developer and I hate programming so much?” Is that odd? I mean, at one point in my life I really loved getting my hands dirty with this stuff…I programmed stuff on my Radio Shack Tandy machine in BASIC to do my homework for me. I used to build my own computers. But I don’t know when but at some point I lost my taste for all of that. It’s like a little switch went off in my head I...

Body Crash

Body Crash

I thought this project was pretty creative. I’m a little envious of the commitment and level of creativity in a project vision like this. In a campaign that sets out to change drivers’ attitudes to low-level speeding by exposing the community problem that sits at the heart of it, we constructed a crash made up of people. The final image was made possible with the help of Adelaide body paint artist Emma Hack. The shoot took a total of 18 hours, using 17 men and women — each with up to five layers of paint applied to their...

Car woes

Car woes

Had to take my car into the shop yesterday for a broken water pump. In itself, it isn’t all that big a deal. But what was…disappointing to say the least…was the fact my car would be considered pretty new. Its a 2011 make and only 8k miles on it. You’d think that having anything break down on it would be very unlikely. But hey, shit happens. I’m not sweating it yet. Unfortunately my loaner wasn’t a R8. (hint guys: that would have been a good upsell opportunity! *wink wink*) My only concern is that it’s...

Art Price Pencil Mural

This beautiful pencil mural apparently won artist Adonna Khare $200,000 by voter selection. I’m in awe. Somehow pencil drawing attract me more than any other form of fine arts. Maybe because it’s just so raw? (via My Modern Met)

VW Van Lego

Finished my 2nd major Lego project for this VW Wagon a couple nights ago. Now I’m suffering from Lack-of-lego syndrome. It’s what you get when you find a little bit of time each night to sit down by yourself and enjoy a little Lego building and then all of a sudden that’s all gone. I’m itching to buy another set. There’s a new set for a HUGE B-wing fighter that’s out right now…but I think with all the plans for our home renovations lately, the last thing my wife would like to see in our house is a...

Kaneohe Air Show

I took Kingston to his first air show event this past weekend. He’s so much into different methods of transportation at this age we figured he’d love the chance to jump into all the exhibited vehicles. It turned out to be a good experience…overall I think he liked it. Although I’m discovered that he’s very prone to drastic mood changes at this age. One second he could be all raving about the trucks and jeeps that he saw….we’d walk him over so he can hop in the driver’s seat to play, and then...

Pop-up Business Cards

What kid didn’t like pop-up books as a kid?  OK…my child hasn’t learned to appreciate them yet, he’d just as soon pull them apart. But I recall I used to be amazed at interactive books as a kid. And as I grew to appreciate design, I can’t quite figure out how they seem to work. I’m sure if I spent enough time at it I could figure them out but I’d much rather just assume that there’s “magic” involved in the process. These awesome business card concepts were done by London based artist...
