Same shit, different day.

Life is a little bit hellish lately…enough so I really feel like that Richard Lewis comedian where I should be dressing in all black everyday and just lamenting all my problems each day. I don’t like doing that too often. I try to stay optimistic, but then you guys wouldn’t have anything to read if I don’t bitch once in a while eh? I swear I try not to make too many ranting posts like this, but I gotta let off some steam! Without making this too torturous to read, let me see if I can put my life into perspective right...

Inflatable Bike Helmet

Posted by on Oct 25, 2010 in My Business Adventures | 2 comments

First glance I would have guessed this model got her Alien facehugger costume on backwards. But as it turns out, this is actually a serious attempt at a portable helmet device that acts like an expandable airbag for bicyclists. Not a bad concept actually, I see people riding bikes and motorcycles around all the time without helmets. This might actually save lives. You’ll live another day wearing one of these…forget the fact you’ll lose some of your biker street cred wearing what looks like a scarf around your neck. Or the...

R/C Lego

Posted by on Oct 17, 2010 in Cool Design Tech, Design Finds | 0 comments

I’ve always been a Lego fan since I was a kid. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to touch a Lego set for decades now…which is a shame, because I know really cool stuff exists that can even challenge an adult. Once a year, one of my best friends, a Math major and current successful system admin for a telcom company, takes a holiday week off and purchases these super expensive Lego sets that might take him a week to put together. It’s his way of relaxing. These sets are so exclusive Lego will only send you the...

Little ones at play…

Posted by on Oct 1, 2010 in Personal, Photography | 2 comments

Here’s Kingston spending some play time with his friend Kaianna. They were born in the same hospital just hours apart. I’ve finally put up some photos I’ve collected over the past few weeks. King is doing well…back to his usual self I’d say. Getting into trouble and exploring the world, with the exception that he seems to favor his left side more now, and has a giant gash across one side of his head. I feel pretty optimistic for the little guy…he’s been my little inspiration over the past few weeks....

Now ain’t that some shit…

Major Disclaimer, this song doesn’t have the best lyrics to blast around the office…but otherwise it’s a really catchy. It’s been stuck in my head for days. Even my father (who I’ve only heard utter a swear word once in my entire life) likes this song. I’m in love with this song. I’m not so sure what this has to do with anything involving design. But it pretty much summarizes what I want to say to a lot of specific people these days. I’m not quite free enough to say exactly who and what for...

OmniTrak Group

A soft launch for one of my latest web projects for OmniTrak Group Inc. I’m pretty proud of this site…I mean, while it’s not the flashiest of sites out there, it’s using CSS and HTML techniques that I’ve kinda always been hesitant to do because I never felt it was safe enough to do them. You know, “safe” as in “it’ll look good on one browser and look like shit in IE” kind of thing. But through a bunch of trial and error we got this all working and I learned a bunch of stuff in the...

Most powerful colors on the web

Posted by on Sep 20, 2010 in Design Finds, Logos, Marketing, Typography, Webdesign | 0 comments

Again yet another very fascinating infographic demonstrating some of the most used colors for web brands and icons. What’s interesting to see is how certain industries fell into similar color categories despite the fact that in many cases the colors were picked without much research on the part of the creators (e.g., Facebook) Hmmm…from the looks of the chart distribution above, I gotta get to working on some violet logos. *grin* (via colourlovers)

Light Painting

Making Future Magic: iPad light painting from Dentsu London on Vimeo. A new twist on long exposure photography. Clever idea…too bad it it can’t be experienced right there on the spot though. I can see how one day (if not already) there will be virtual scavenger hunts taking place with people walking around giant spaces with these tablets trying to find hidden simulated objects.

The Wilderness Downtown

OK, you need Google’s Chrome browser, and an available speaker to truly enjoy this…but it’s one of the best examples of HTML5 that I’ve seen yet. OH! And don’t be afraid to type in your rough address when it asks you…it’s a cool part of this experience.
